Downtown Cincinnati

I had fish and chips, as well as a couple of cheeky pints of Boddingtons, Downtown with a friend.

We decided to 'walk off' our meal by going towards the Ohio river, where we passed the Freedom Centre, the Cincinnati Red baseball ground and saw one of the amphibious vehicles (which are used for 'ride with the ducks').

Although Cincinnati was very quiet, compared to our towns/cities, there seems a lot to do. I must get some baseball tickets soon... "let's play ball".

National Museum of the US Air Force

Just under 1 hour away north of Cincinnati in Dayton is the Wright Patterson Air Force Base, home to the national museum of the United States Air Force.

I loved it... three huge hangers worth of airplanes from the start of aviation to the present day and a number of space rockets. They even included a mock up of a working office in Debden (Essex) which was used in World War II and a bar that was frequented by the US air force to unwind and enjoy life after a stressful day's work.
Great stuff. I'll be back.

It Went Straight Down The Middle...NOT

I was invited to join one of my colleagues and his wife for a game of golf at 7:30am on Saturday. Being an 'early bird' I thought this was a great idea... until I tee'd off.

Although I averaged 9 a hole (higher the score the better right?!) it was a superb way to start the day. The sun was out all morning and the birds were singing.

Interesting fact... the US robin is about 5 times the size of our native robin. No doubt the local robins enjoy 'super size me' meals too!

The Local Park

Ault Park is a stone's throw from where I live.

I went for a run round the park and managed to get lost (within and outside). What was an intended 1 hour run turned into a 1 1/2 hour run/walk/slight panic. That will teach me never to go without my blackberry (google maps!).

The Park isn't a scratch on Wisley. Although not as large as Mote Park, much more beautiful. Spot the Spangled Banner!

A Small European Car

Well, having arrived in Cincinnati with the sun shining and 23 degrees a shiny red car took my fancy. Bored of the Ford Focus last month, I decided to continue with a relatively small car (which hopefully would help me pass my driving test later this month).

I have a feeling I will be enjoying this rental car!!
