Best Burgers in Town

This lunch time I went to Zip's Cafe with a lovely family I've got to know through Church.

This 'one off' burger joint is top-notch. The burger and onion rings (please note I didn't have fries as I'm trying to lose weight!!!) were accompanied by a glass of Guinness (unfortunately they don't do pints).

If you look carefully in the bottom left of the photo, you'll see a train that travels around the walls of the Cafe.

March Madness...

The NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) College Basketball tournament is hotting up. Apparently they call it "March madness", as 64 teams compete across 4 regions over 19 days.

I went to a local bar with one of my colleagues hoping that 'her team' Kansas (#1 ranking) were going to win.

Funny old game is basketball... Kansas lost! For a neutral it was very enjoyable, but I don't believe my colleague saw it that way.

Anyone for "Quoffee"

Having enjoyed walking around the grounds of the Observatory, I decided to buy a coffee at the Coffee Emporium. Again, a lovely place to visit within the local area.

Cincinnati Observatory

Only a stones throw away from where I live is the Cincinnati Observatory. It's in a beautiful quiet spot of Hyde Park. In fact I was the only person there when I took the photo.

Over the Ohio River to Kentucky

As it was a sunny morning I decided to venture out of the State. Not that far actually, only 5 miles away!

While trying to avoid a swarm of runners, I walked along Newport on the Levee where there is an aquarium and shopping centre.

The purple people bridge links Kentucky to Ohio, with it being built in 1872. I took the photos from Kentucky.

We're Goin' To The Zoo, Zoo, Zoo...

Although it decided to rain today, it wasn't going to stop me. What I didn't bargain for, was that the majority of the animals were smarter than me and decided to hide in the dry!
I was absolutely fascinated by the polar bears (I've never been so close to them before) - they are huge but very graceful in the water.
I'm definitely going back to the Zoo when it's sunny. Top banana!

Apparently A Must... Not!

This lunch time my colleagues took me to experience Skyline Chili.
All I can say is, "I've been there, done it".
I can't see myself rushing back.

Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church

It's not quite Bearsted Methodist Chapel is it!

The people are very welcoming and it's only 15 minutes walk away (although I did take the car today as I was running late!!).

The Local Neighbourhood

I decided to go for a walk around the area that I'm living.
As you can see, the homes have character (especially the bottom right one... funky hey?).

Anyone for Ice Cream?

Graeter's is THE ice cream to have in Cincinnati. Their choc mint milkshake is lovely!
This is Hyde Park (not quite the same as the one in London is it?).

My Apartment

Today I moved into the 2-bedroom apartment. It's perfect for me, although I have to walk 4 flights of stairs! It's about 5 miles north of downtown Cincinnati and 15 miles south of work. I can even walk to the shops and go for a run... no need for the car.

My 1st Day At Work

The building is so big, that I've only managed to get part of the wing that I work in. It's a 1/4 mile walk from my office to some of my colleagues!

Cincinnati North East Marriott

Having stayed here 3 times within the last 4 months, I had to return to say goodbye to some of the staff that I got to know.

My 1-way Ticket!

Flight time from London to Cincinnati was 15 hours. Bring back the direct flight Delta, please!

Farewell & Good Luck

A complete surprise. The cake tasted great!
